  • A Suzani is a hand embroidered textile piece which comes from the Persian word Suzan which means needle. They are valued for their craftsmanship and decorative quality.

These Suzanis are made using the Aari stitch by Indian Artisans creating these unique textiles pieces. The cotton and silk stitching is created on ivory canvas which allows the fabulous colours to shine. The Aari stitch originates in the Mughal era.

Aari work is a type of embroidery work which is done by stretching the fabric tightly over a wooden frame. A pen like needle is then used to create the detailed Aari work.

Typically Suzani’s are hung flat on a wall but I adore them as bedspreads and draped on sofas. Another favourite option is for Upholstry, they’re excellent on ottomans, headboards and occasional chairs.

    Please note:

Due to the pieces being handmade, colour variations, pen marks and frayed threads are expected. The ‘imperfections’ add to the character and nature of the hand made pieces. We advise items are washed using a specialist dry cleaners.
